Debbies’ Tip’s – “I’m really worried that we might have a down cycle”

Hello my name is Debbie DeGrote and I am the Owner and President of Excelleum Coaching and Consulting here to do another video for you, just to share some ideas and thoughts. You know the other day I had an agent come up to me at the event that I was attending or actually conducting. And the agent said, “You know I’m really worried that we might have a down cycle and I just don’t know if I can make it if we have a down cycle, what will I do?” and I said “Well how long have you been in the business?” and they said “About a year.” I said “Well here’s the thing I know about real estate, it always changes.” It made me think about a long time ago on Saturday Night Live, Gilda Radner II used to play Roseanna Danna Danna and choose to say “It just goes to show you it’s always something.” Well when I began my real estate career very soon after fixed rates when two 18% percent for a mortgage on a home. And then because that was so expensive we started doing these crazy assumptions
and lease options and then we got these crazy adjustable rates with huge negative amortization but people just wanted to own a home. We’ve watched the stock market crash I mean then we had the the perfect storm of the down cycle that lasted four years across much of the nation. And guess what we survived. People still bought homes every day because it’s more than just an investment, it’s a home. It’s the American dream. Many of you survived tough times quite nicely. Grabbing that market share that other agents were too frozen to go after and you did it by prospecting. And I know maybe you don’t like that word call it whatever you want prospecting, hunting new business, making it happen. I don’t care what you call it. The truth is though the more people you talk to each day the more opportunity you’ll have. So if your market cycle is dipping a little or your particular business is down a little.
